PostgreSQL as a Service
Managed PostgreSQL databases on demand — provisioned from the portal, backed up automatically, and metered on consumption.
PGaaS turns PostgreSQL into a self-service catalog item. Tenants request a managed database, choose a size and version, and connect — backups, recovery, and high availability are handled by the platform. Each database is isolated to the tenant, metered, and billed back through Cloud Orchestrator.
What you get
Scoped credentials issued per database, rotated on demand.
Scheduled backups with configurable retention.
Restore to any moment within the retention window.
Optional standby replicas with automatic failover.
Provision from any supported PostgreSQL major version.
Connection, query, and resource metrics per instance.
Encrypted in transit and at rest by default.
Resize compute and grow storage without a rebuild.
Sizes
| Flavor | vCPU | Memory | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 2 | 4 GB | 40 GB |
| Medium | 4 | 8 GB | 100 GB |
| Large | 8 | 16 GB | 250 GB |
| X-Large | 16 | 32 GB | 500 GB |
Flavors and storage limits are configurable. Storage can grow independently of the compute flavor.
Service tiers
Tiers are example service levels you define for your tenants. Configure as many as you need — what is shown here is a sensible starting point.
| Capability | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Connection credentials | ✓ | ✓ |
| Automated backups | Daily | Continuous |
| Point-in-time recovery | 7 days | 35 days |
| High availability replica | — | ✓ |
| Availability SLA | 99.5% | 99.95% |
| Support response | Next business day | 1 hour |
Tiers are operator-defined. Map them to your own pricing, quotas, and target tenants.
Support & metering
PGaaS is metered per manageable item — the database instance and each component attached to it count separately.
